While we had hoped to reopen Carihi Secondary this week, the school will remain closed to all 亚洲成人网 and staff from Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November, 29, 2024.

The school will reopen, and 亚洲成人网 will return to in-person learning on Monday, December 2.

We are still waiting for air quality testing to be completed by an independent third party, which is required by WorkSafeBC before school staff can re-enter the building.

We anticipate receiving occupancy approval for school staff to access the unaffected portions of the school by late Thursday, November 28.

Carihi school staff met today to plan for the return of 亚洲成人网 next week. Teachers are connecting to check-in and support 亚洲成人网 until in-person classes resume.

Thirteen teaching spaces were affected by the fire, including five classrooms in B-wing and two classrooms in A-wing. It will likely be 1-2 months before the B-wing can be fully operational and even longer before A-wing will be restored.

Starting on Monday, December 2, the former Oyster River school will serve as a temporary satellite location for Carihi Secondary classes.

After exploring all possible options – including portables, community facilities, and the former Discovery Passage school – school administration and district leadership determined that Oyster River allows us to resume in-person learning the quickest, without significantly disrupting other school communities.

Oyster River has five available classrooms, the former library space, a former computer room, and a breakout room, all of which are ready to use. The building has been recently cleared and all essential services – heat, washrooms, water, and connectivity – are fully functional. We are now in the process of sourcing and moving necessary furniture and learning resources back into the school.

Students will be transported between Carihi Secondary and Oyster River by school bus. Families living near Oyster River will also have the option to drop their child(ren) off at Oyster River if they have morning classes there, rather than driving into town to Carihi.

Carihi 亚洲成人网 and families will receive details by the end of the day on Thursday, November 28 about which classes will be moved temporarily to Oyster River and where 亚洲成人网 will attend classes starting Monday, December 2.
